Willowfield Lake Cottages, North Devon

12 cottages (that can sleep 2, 3, 4 or 5 guests) set amongst mature trees and shrubs and are surrounded by 12 acres of pastureland, where mown paths meander through wildflower meadows to encircle a tranquil and picturesque 1 acre lake which is stocked to challenge the most ambitious coarse fisherman. La Roultiere Gites, Breil, Loire

The Edgerley family will provide you with a warm welcome to their gites and by living at La Roultiere they are able to provide you with helpful guidance for your stay. All of the accommodation in Ses Salines is only a minute or two’s walk from the beach, purpose built crèche (4 mths – 4 yrs) and sailing centre (from 4 yrs to adult). Accommodation is in either a friendly family run hotel or self-catering accommodation ranging from 4 bedroom villas with own private pools to simple self catering apartments with use of club pool. All villas have fully equipped kitchens with microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Cots and high chairs are provided and, where necessary, stair gates. The resorts boasts the best equipped sailing centre in the Mediterranean- ideal for all the family, with every member participating in the day’s activity as much or as little as they wish. Child-friendly Riad in Marrakech

Children (and adults!) love this exciting and exotic city – but if you prefer an authentic Riad experience rather than a hotel, this can be tricky if traveling with children, as riadss are usually aimed at adults and discourage noisy nippers. Zam Zam Riad/boutique hotel is different however and welcomes children. The ancient riad was a fortune tellers house and has been lovingly restored, adding the luxuries of a top class boutique hotel – there’s a plunge pool and a spa with massage room and hammam. It’s ideally located 15 minutes stroll from the souks and 5 minutes taxi from the new town of Marrakech - Gueliz and close to all restaurants. This lovely cottage sleeps 2-5 people and is situated in the village of Grandmesnil, which nestles at the foot of a ridge amongst rolling countryside and apple orchards. The location of the cottage makes it ideal for the attractions and activities of Normandy. There is a large selection of books for adults and toys and games for children of all ages. Wide variety of baby equipment: baby bath, cot, highchair, booster seat, bottle steriliser, hand blender, change mat and toys. Children love to feed the chickens, ducks and goats which are at the bottom of the garden, and a ride on the donkey is also popular. Dubai: option with hard to find family suites

Despite being a very family-friendly destination, finding suites or rooms which take a family of 4 can be very tricky to find in Dubai. The Palm Tree Court is the exception to the rule however. Located in the Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa, with a tranquil and private location in a secluded part of the resort, just steps away from a pristine beach, this well priced smaller hotel (only 134 suites) had good spacious accommodation and excellent family facilities. The suites can accommodate a family of 4, there s'a kids club 3-7 yrs ,babysitting, childrens menu and pool.

Acabanes, Dordogne, France

This farmhouse is situated in South West France, in a lovely area of the Western Dordogne, close to the towns of Bergerac, Duras and Eymet and is one hour drive east of Bordeaux. It sleeps up to 8 adults and 6 children with it's focal point of the barn being a large sitting room 9m x 8m which is open to a timbered 'cathedral' ceiling and a large mezzanine area. It has a secure pool area and a 2 acre fenced garden. Prices from £500 to £2,750.

El Valle Villa, Costa Calida, Spain - This lovely villa is on the 5* resort of El Valle and has a gated pool.
