Inspiration for September

September has to be one of the best times of the year to take a holiday – the weather in the med will still be perfect: hot sunny days, warm, balmy evenings and seas, but the crowds of high summer will have disappeared, leaving you free to enjoy the stunning beaches, villages and towns in comfort – and for a lot less as the prices will have dropped too. In terms of short haul destinations, . you can choose from the not-too-hot, such as France, Sardinia, Galicia in Spain, to the seriously sunny – Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, with Portugal, Spain, Italy basking in the sun somewhere in between.

Every Med destination has something different to offer – some are best for beaches, others for culture/food/sports, some have it all. There are excellent family friendly resorts and villas of all types in all destinations locations, just contact us with your wish list, and we'll help you find the holiday that best suits your family.

The long haul destinations have to compete with the Med options at this time of year , and so there are some great prices and deals for the Caribbean and Indian Ocean: if you’re happy to fly that bit further, then it’s the ideal time of year to grab a very luxe holiday for a lot less.

If you're keen to stay in the UK (and who knows, summer may still be just around the corner, albeit of the Indian variety…) then there are some great options here too - from cottages, to boutique hotels and luxury hotels with childcare. Again, just contact us with your wish list, and we'll research some options for you.

Short haul destinations

The Algarve
Villas or suites on the lovely Monte Da Quinta resort - restaurants, spa, golf, tennis, good indoor pool, horse riding and crèche and kids club from 6mths. The Vila Vita Parc for hotel luxury with childcare for all ages from 4 mths. The Pine Cliffs Residence apartments on the Sheraton site – again, great childcare and luxurious apartments offering space and flexibility with no compromise on level of service or facility. Also very good and with self catering options as well as standard hotel rooms: the Santa Eulalia.

Balearics
Easy to get around, great food, lovely beaches and interesting towns to visit. Palma, (perfect for strolls on the beach but also forculture, art galleries and excellent food), northern and south eastern Mallorca near the market town of Santanyi, Menorca near San Lluis and Mahon, and Ibiza near San Jose or near Sant Joan are our favourites. In Mallorca, for a luxurious hotel stay with golf, childrens’ clubs from 3 we recommend the Arabella Sheraton and Mardavall just outside Palma , and for a chic boutique hotel with one bed suites with cooking facilities, we recommend Hotel Migjorn.

Italy
A great destination year round, but especially enticing in September – when the weather cools a little and is idea for both relaxing and exploring the wonderful countryside, villages and cities. We recommend the new luxury resort in unspoilt Puglia with childcare, the Roccamare resort on the Tuscan coast, and a whole variety of gorgeous houses of alltypes throughout the country. Sardinia is also extremely popular with our clients who love the unspoilt, Caribbean-like beaches and the easy relaxed charm of the Sardinians. Likewise Sicily – which is fascinatingboth scenically and culturally – and is home to the new uber luxury family friendly Forte resort Verdura.

Malta
Malta and Gozo are also good options for September, very hot - yet a relatively short flight from the UK (3- 3.5 hrs). The Dragonara in Malta is very family friendly and in Gozo the Kempinski is both stylish and family friendly. Contact us for more info

Hot sunny weather but with cooling breezes. We recommend the Yaiza in Lanzarote, the Abama and Bahia Del Duque in Tenerife, the Sheraton in Gran Canaria and the Sheraton in Fuerteventura.

Another ideal destination for September – plenty of hot weather, warm seas and lots to explore. It boasts a great variety of luxury family friendly hotels, most with excellent facilities for all age groups. We recommend the Almyra, The Anassa, Le Meridien Cyprus, The Elysium, Columbia Beach Resort and Aphrodite Hills.

Tunisia and Morocco
Tunisia and Morocco offer a shorthaul holiday with a difference – exotic, with a fantastic range of scenery. Stil pretty hot (around the same as Cyprus), Tunis is just a 2.5 hrs flight from the UK offers an intriguing mix of European boulevards and an atmospheric medina. Most Moroccan destinations are just a 3 – 3.5 hr flight too. Children of all ages respond to the vibrant colours and sounds of these fascinating destinations – from the camel rides on the beach to the excitement of the souks. The Residence Tunis is a superb hotel – elegant, contemporary, with unrivalled service, large heated pool, enclosed gardens, good food and childrens menu and kids club. Babygoes2 was there last year and had a fantastic time. Highly recommended. Options further south in Tunisia too. We were also in Marrakech and loved it.

Turkey
The weather stays very good in Turkey throguhto end October so it’s a great place for a September (or later) holiday. Outside the Eurozone, so is usually good value. Good choice of options from activity holidays such as Mark Warner, to luxury hotels,to villas and appt and small family run hotels. Much to explore.
