Inspiration for July and August

July and August are the top times to get away and enjoy some summer sunshine…. It’ll be high summer in the Med – –the perfect time for a relaxing family holiday, be it by the sea, in the countryside or even amongst clear mountain air .There’s an enormous range of options in terms of destination, travel methods (plane, boat,train, car) and accommodation - luxury resorts, a chic boutique hotels or villas with a cook s or simple beachfront appts or villas. Tunisia is an option to consider too – with summer temps around the same level as Greece/Cyprus, yet only a 2.5 hr flight and with a superb luxury hotel option in the Rsesidence which has great food, lovely beach, spa kids club etc. Well worth considering as an alternative to the European Med resorts. Further afield, Mauritius and the Caribbean are very popular destinations for July and August. The weather is still excellent (not too hot or humid in Mauritius, and can still be fairly dry in some Caribean destinations), and the various discounts on offer can make these luxury destinations surprisingly good value in comparison with Mediterranean holidays..The USA is a very good option for this summer due to the strength of the pound against the dollar.We recommend the Gulf coast of Florida- hotels with self catering flexibility, beautiful beaches and scenery. Short haul destinations Longhaul sun Short haul destinations The Algarve Villas on the lovely Monte Da Quinta resort - restaurants, spa, golf, tennis, good indoor pool, horse riding and crèche and kids club from 6 mths. The Vila Vita Parc for hotel luxury with childcare for all ages from 4 mths. The Pine Cliffs Residence apartments on the Sheraton site – again, great childcare and luxurious apartments offering space and flexibility with no compromise on level of service or facility. Also very good the Santa Eulalia and Lake Resort. Balearics Easy to get around, great food, good beaches and interesting towns to visit. Palma, northern and south eastern Mallorca, Menorca near San Lluis and Mahon, and Ibiza near San Jose or near Sant Joan are our favourites. France France is a great location for Mayfavourite summer destination as it has so much to offer beyond sun and sea, and the weather won’t be so hot that you can’t enjoy making the most of it!. . Italy Again, a wonderful destination with so much to offer culturally and scenically. Wide choice of hotels and villas, great food. Sardinia offers arguably the best beaches in the Med, is free from the ravages of mass market tourism and has some good resorts with childcare from 6 mths. Switzerland Glorious destination – clean, clear air, warm sunshine, stunning scenery. The Hotel Royal Park Evian is beautifully located overlooking Lake Geneva and has superb childcare from 6 mths to teenagers and excellent all round facilities. Cyprus Great weather, crystal clear seas, lots to explore. It boasts a great variety of luxury family friendly hotels, most with excellent facilities for all age groups. We recommend the Almyra, The Anassa, Le Meridien Cyprus, The Elysium, Aphrodite Hills. Tunisia Tunisia offers a shorthaul holiday with a difference – exotic, with a fantastic range of scenery. Tunis just a 2.5 hrs flight from the UK offers an intriguing mix of European boulevards and an atmopspheric medina. Children of all ages respond to the vibrant colours and sounds of this fascinating destination – from the camel rides on the beach to the excitement of the souks. Longhaul sun Mauritius Fabulous location for July/August. White sand beaches, azure sea, a very high standard of accommodation and service. Some of the world's leading hotels, some smaller hotels too and some great self catering options, from luxurious villas with private pools to simple, on the beach properties. Flights can be non stop and overnight, so travel is relatively stress-free. . Temperatures are good – in themed 20’s with low humidity. South Africa Wonderful destination with so much to offer – great weather, gorgeous hotels in Cape Town, wine tasting, a wide variety of family friendly safaris, and low jet lag.
