Location: Kanuhura is a resort set in the remote Lhaviyani Atoll in the North of the Maldives. The atoll is totally undeveloped with hundreds of uninhabited islands and unexplored dive sites.

Why: The real desert island, total decadence but with full luxury experience. Large island, 63 rooms set along beach with plenty of privacy. Decor is very hip with luxury open-air bathrooms, four posters, swathes of muslin. Great restaurant - you can even dine on your own terrace overlooking the sea - great diving, lots of watersports, excellent snorkelling. Excellent service.
When to go: November to April, July to August
Travel: 12-hr flight east
For children: Nothing formal, but babysitting can be arranged. Probably best with a small baby who will sleep at some point, or an older one who’s good at occupying themselves, or with a friend and share a bit of child-amusing. Not much to do except chill out, swim, snorkel, eat. Bliss!

Accommodation: Located in the North Male Atoll, on a private island. The hotel has 106 villas either on the beach or on stilts (request on the beach if you’ve got a baby on the move). Back to nature with (more than) a touch of luxury. Excellent diving.
