Since making the move from London in 2000, Andy and Lucy Orr and their young family have transformed the cluster of cottages into a haven of safety and tranquility. Children are free to run around and parents are free to relax safe in the knowledge that the nearest public road is almost a mile away and in between is nothing but lovingly tended gardens (Andy is a landscape gardener), acres of woodland, wonderful facilities and a host of friendly farm animals.

The Shop. No need to cook - just nip into the shop (open 24/7) and pick up a delicious bang in the oven meal for you and the kids, organic baby food and lots of other local goodies.

The Pamper. Desperate for some time alone to relax - soothing massages can be booked in the Orr’s annex.

The Night Out. Need some quality time together without the kids - babysitting by registered a child minder can be arranged as well as somewhere wonderful to have supper.

The Lie In. How do you give your other half a lie in when the kids are in the room next door? Easy - head off to one of the many play areas and get together with all the other early risers leaving the cottage peaceful and quiet.

The Day Out. Don't have a day out have a day in. If you can't face packing up the car and going out for the day - you don't have to. With so much on offer there is plenty to keep everyone happy and busy.

The Maid Service Finally take the pressure off the house work with a mid week maid service.

All the cottages are unique and of a high standard excellently restored from the original stone and slate with beautiful exposed beams. Whatever time of year they are always warm and welcoming with central heating and cast iron stoves.

The Apple Store
Apple Store Apple Store Apple Store
Stay: The Apple Store, Charlestown Harbour, Cornwall
(www.antoniaspearls.co.uk)
Location: The Apple Store is an exquisite wing of a large Georgian house overlooking the historic port of Charlestown. Built in the early eighteenth century, the port of Charlestown is largely unchanged and is now home to three tall ships - Phoenix, Kaskelot and Earl of Pembroke.
Charlestown is approximately 10 minutes from both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. It is also ideally situated for visiting Fowey, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, the Tate at St Ives, and Padstow. There are two pubs and a fabulous restaurant in the village.
Accommodation: The Apple Store comfortably sleeps 2 adults (and a baby) in its large bedroom. The solid oak super kingsize bed looks over the gardens out to sea. The sheets are from The White Company and are the most fabulous Egyptian cotton percale (the duvet, pillows and towels are all The White Company too!) The adjoining bathroom has a fabulously powerful shower, loo and basin. It has everything you might ever need.. iron, ironing board, sewing kit, alarm clock, hairdryer, and some Daphne du Marriers books......

The Kitchen has its original slate floor, a ceramic hob with an electric oven, a microwave, a fridge with a freezer compartment, a washing machine/tumble dryer, the kitchen table and chairs, and again everything you might need in the cupboards (hopefully). The sitting room has a TV with Digital TV, a DVD and a video player, a wonderfully comfy sofa, a big armchair and a writing desk. The table and chairs for alfresco eating are in the Orchard.
Facilities: The Owners provide fresh ground coffee, tea, sugar, milk, dark chocolate biscuits plus the usual bits under the kitchen sink, loo paper & Molton Brown liquid hand wash!
The Cheese Shop in Truro is superb.
The Deli in Fowey is full of yummy bits, and if Tony (the local fisherman) doesn't call, then the Fish Shop in Fowey is the best... & they have a good wine list too.
Revival is the village's new restaurant and does delicious food and perfect latte.
There is a lovely local golf course at the Carlyon Bay Hotel, with St Enedoc and Trevose within reach.
Porthpean is a great family beach with sand and rockpools, as is Caerhays (with a great beach shop). The local beach may be pebbly (because of the balast jettisoned by ships), but has a sandy base when the tide is out, and the rock pools are the best!
Charlestown Natural Health Clinic is wonderful, and beauty treatments can be booked at the local Clarins Salon. 24hr Tesco as you drive into Charlestown!
For children: The house is perfectly laid out for pre school children and most equipment is provided. High chair, cot, buggy, potty, safety equipment, babysitters , laundry fairies etc.
Travel time: 1hour 15 mins drive from Exeter, 20 mins drive from Newquay International airport and 6 minutes from St Austell Train Station (main Line from Paddington to Penzance).
Price guide: From £485 - £685 per week depending on season.

Old Hall Farm Holiday Barns, Walpole, Suffolk
Stay: Old Hall Farm Holiday Barns, Walpole, Suffolk (close to Southwold) www.oldhallfarmcottages.co.uk
Sleeps: Henry`s Barn - sleeps 6
The Old Corn Mill - sleeps 6 (plus 2 on sofa bed)
The Old Dairy - sleeps 3 plus 1
Location: Old Hall Barns have been tastefully converted to provide all the modern facilities that you would expect, while still retaining their traditional character.
The properties are surrounded by 80 acres of grassland where the Fresian cows can be seen grazing throughout the summer months, and the River Blyth meanders, providing a welcome habitat for an abundance of wildlife.
Halesworth (3 miles) is the nearest, and arguably one of the prettiest market towns in the area. The pedestrianised Throughfare is home to butchers, green grocers, antique shops and some interesting individual shops to tempt those who enjoy a little retail therapy!
The coastal towns of Southwold, the home of Adnams Ales, Walberswick which is famous for the`World Crabbing Championships` and Aldeburgh, are all just a short drive away.
Accommodation: HENRY`S BARN
(sleeps 6) has the benefit of stunning views to the rear of the property. A shaker style kitchen, divided only by open beams, looks through into a spacious dining come living area, all with underfloor heating.
There is a dowstairs twin bedroom with ensuite wet room, very suitable for any guests who find stairs difficult, as well as a separate downstairs cloakroom.
Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a full height beamed ceiling and a pretty twin room next door. These two bedrooms share bathroom.

THE OLD CORN MILL
(sleeps 6 plus 2) is probably the quirkiest of the barn conversions and boasts a full height, vaulted ceiling above the dining / kitchen area. This barn also has a downstairs twin bedroom with an ensuite shower room which is assessed via three steps down from the main area.
Going down just one step, the Indian sandstone dining area leads to the oak floored sitting area.
There is also a downstairs cloakroom with a bath and a large porch where pushchairs, coats and boots can be kept out of the way!
On the first floor there is a twin room with its own shower room, and a double bedroom which has a stunning roll top bathroom in the eaves of the barn, assessed by a set of relatively steep paddle steps (not suitable for the infirm!)

THE OLD DAIRY
(sleeps 3 plus 1) is decorated in a much more modern style, and is perfect for a family of two adults and two small children.
The downstairs open plan area houses the kitchen, dining table and living space with ease .The red brick fireplace with electric wood burner gives this barn a very cosy feel.
Upstairs, there is a kingsize double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and a single bedroom which shares the bathroom via a separate door.
Facilities: We like to think that we are very much geared up for family holidays and offer the following facilities:
Heated Swimming Pool (Easter until the end of October)
Play Barn which includes the usual pool table, table tennis, table football etc but also a `tiny people`s corner` with a dressing up box, dolls, pushchairs, a play kitchen and the ride on and and pedal toys.
The second Play Barn has an astro turf pitch with goals and a net suitable for short tennis practise.
Footpaths cross the farmland and there is a short circular walk that starts and finishes from the barns. We provide basic laminated sheets which show the route, and point out some wildlife to look out for on your walk.
Freezer meals can be ordered in advance of your stay, from a list of dishes that we offer. We are also very happy to discuss other catering needs that you may have while you are here.
