Beautiful, green Ionian Island.
Vassilikos peninsula. Best bit: very relaxed, unspoilt villages, particularly beautiful beaches.
Very easy access to beaches by foot or by car - great beaches have easy parking really close by - no trekking down a mountainside with rucksacks of gear.
Easy to get around.
Plenty of boat trips etc which are fine for little ones.
Zakynthos stays warmer for longer than the other
Ionian Islands, so it’s a great location for late or early season holidays.
Quick transfers from airport.
Things to think about:
It’s quite a long flight - 4 hours.
Very much a beach holiday, not that much to do if the weather’s bad.
Quite developed in areas other than the Vassilikos peninsula, best avoided.
